Informatics Centre [NIC], under Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India is a premier Information Technology organization in India which is committed to providing state-of-the-art, solutions for the IT needs of the Government of India, state governments and UTs at all levels. NIC is providing network backbone
and e-Governance support to Central Government, State Governments, UT Administrations,
Districts and other Government bodies. It offers a wide range of ICT services including
Nationwide Communication Network for decentralised planning, improvement in Government
services and wider transparency of national and local Governments. NIC assists in
implementing Information Technology Projects, in close collaboration with Central
and State Governments, in the areas of,
(a) Centrally sponsored schemes and Central
sector schemes
(b) State sector and State sponsored projects and
(c) District
Administration sponsored projects.
NIC endeavours to ensure that the latest technology
in all areas of IT is available to its users. NIC has setup a nation-wide network NICNET over which state-of-the- art services are being provided.
At district level, NIC District Centre [District Informatics Center
or DIC] provide effective informatics support to
the Development, Revenue and Judiciary administration of the district.The service include application software, email and internet connectivity through Skyblaster VSAT/Leased Line, website development for the state government as well as for the central government departments. Apart from the technical service and training, these centres also play an important role in the implementation of E-Governance applications in various departments.
NIC District Centre Ratnagiri was established in 1988 to provide effective informatics
support to the District Administration & Government departments. Since then, various ICT support services are provided to District Administration
& State/Central Government departments as per their needs. |
