» NICNET Services |
National Informatics Centre (NIC) is a premier S&T (Science & Technology) Organisation of Government of India in the field of Information Services and Information Technology (IT) applications and has been instrumental in steering Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) applications in Government Departments at Central, State and Districts, facilitating improvement in government services, wider transparency in government functions and improvement in decentralized planning and management. To facilitate this, NIC has established a nationwide ICT Network- NICNET- with gateway nodes at about 53 Central Government Departments, 35 State/UT Secretariats and over 570 District Collectorates. The Government has designated the nation-wide Computer Communication Network, NICNET, as the Government Network.
NIC is offering network services over Ku-band VSATs. Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks(MANs) and Local Area Networks (LANs) with NICNET gateway for Internet resources to promote economic, social, scientific and technological activities, and also for macro-economic adjustment programme of the Government.

Internet & Email facility has been
provided to all the government departments. The departments gets connected to Internet
using Dial-up/RF connectivity/MAHANet. |

» Land Records Computerisation |
One of the prestigious project of NIC,
Maharashtra is the computerisation of Land Records (Mahabhulekha). It is broadly
divided into two modules
1. LMIS (12/7) - Implemented & running successfully at all the 9 Talukas of
Ratnagiri district .

A Video Conferencing Studio has been
established by NIC at all the districts of Maharashtra. Departments use this facility
to monitor the implementation of various projects. |
